As part of the 2026 National Forest Walking Festival, we will be leading two guided walks in May.

On Sunday 17th May starting at 2pm we will be walking around the village of Whitwick that begins and ends at the Old Station. We will visit various historical sites that have interesting and surprising stories.  The walk is about two miles on footpaths and there are no stiles. On our return to the Old Station light refreshments will be available. There will also be an opportunity to look around the building which is the only surviving structure from the former Charnwood Forest Railway. Free but donations welcomed.

On Wednesday 20th May a circular walk beginning at Mount St. Bernard Abbey at 1.30pm taking in splendid views of this part of Charnwood Forest. We will walk to the site of the former Reformatory and follow footpaths to Whitwick Quarry. The walk is two miles with 4 stiles and there are some steep slopes and uneven terrain. Free but donations welcomed.
